NOAH – for animal rights

NOAH started in 1989, and today has approximately 20,000 members. They work to strengthen animal rights every day, and their hundreds of volunteers across the country create increased commitment to animals.

NOAH works for a society where consideration for animals is a given. Therefore, they work to ensure that politicians make animal-friendly decisions, and that businesses and consumers make animal-friendly choices. They work to promote the animal perspective in the media and research, and for the legal system to take animal abuse seriously.

For over 30 years, NOAH has contributed to increasing respect for animals in Norway. They have put animal interests on the agenda of several political parties, achieved success in dismantling the fur industry and establishing an animal police force, ensured an end to exotic animals in circuses and a ban on several brutal forms of hunting, contributed to a ban on seal products in the EU and increased interest in animal-friendly and animal-free consumption in Norway.
